you born, and where else have you lived? |
Born
in Bangor, Maine. Have lived in Orono, Maine; Ocean Park,
Maine; Lewiston, Maine; Worcester, Massachusetts; East Stroudsburg,
Pennsylvania; West Lafayette, Indiana; Kokomo, Indiana; and San Diego, California.
All in USA. |

What other
classes are you taking this semester. |
I'm teaching one lecture and three labs for the General Chemistry course (Che 152). I'm also involved in a workshop course with Dean Nelson in which we're looking at a book on Student Engagement by Elizabeth Barkeley. |

employed? Where? How often? |
Yes. PLNU since 2006. Also employed at part-time Miramar
College and ENSR (environmental consulting). I've worked
in the environmental consulting field since 1990, and college
teaching since 1988. |

Have you
taken chemistry before? Where? When? |
Well, yes. First at Doherty High School in
Worcester, then at Bates College and Purdue University, and
finally at Scripps Institution of Oceanography. |

What's your major? |
I was a chemistry/math double major at
Bates; chemistry major at Purdue (graduate school). My
courses focused on inorganic chemistry, and my research involved
radioanalytical cosmochemistry and the analysis of meteorites to elucidate the early history of the solar system. |

In what other activities
do you participate at PLNU? |
Art, music, and sports events,
mostly. I'm on the Point Loma Sports Associates and the Resource
Stewardship Task Force, I am the Ultimate club advisor,
and play trombone in the Concert Band. I attend several
of the events sponsored by the Center for Teaching and Learning.
I enjoy attending Chapel, Time Out, and After Dark
as much as possible. My younger son was an visual arts major, PLNU '11. My older son (UCI '10) is now a grad student in IR/PS at UCSD. |

What are
your favorite things to do outside of school? |
Disc golf, hiking or jogging the trails at Torrey Pines, ultimate frisbee,
photography, going to the beach or parks, kayaking to concerts at Humphrey's, enjoying what San
Diego has to offer, hanging out with my wife and kids at
home, and visiting my family in Maine in the summer. We love attending St. Peter's Episcopal in Del Mar. |
